We regret to inform you of the passing of Rabbi Dov Nelken OBM of Toronto, Ontario. Rabbi Nelkin ws a beloved father, grandather and active member of Toronto’s Anash community.
He passed on Thursday, 20 Av at the age of 74.
As a bochur he studied in Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim both in Montreal and in Kfar Chabad.
Following his marriage to his wife Miriam, they moved to Richmond, Virginia and subsequently to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on shlichus.
After earning his degree in education while on shlichus, the Rebbe sent him to Montreal to work in chinuch. He was known for his kind and gentle approach in education.
The Nelkens moved 12 years ago to Toronto, where they became active members of the Anash community.
He is survived by his wife Miriam and their children Nechama Dina Arnold – Los Angeles, CA; Toba Freundlich – Montreal, Canada; Zev Nelken – Crown Heights; Chanie Marcus – Melbourne, Australia; Mordechai Nelken – Montreal, Canada; Chanoch Nelken – Toronto, Canada; Yutty Nelken – Flatbush, NY; Leah Morgenstein – Miami, FL; Rivkah Bronchtain – Las Vegas, NV; Abe Nelken – Kingston, PA; and Shlomie Nelken – Hallendale Beach, FL.
He is also survived by his sister Mrs. Ruchie Engel of California.
The funeral will be Motzei Shabbos at 10:30 in Toronto. He will be buried in the holy city of Tzfas in Eretz Yisroel .
