We are deeply saddened to report on the passing of Rabbi Avrohom Meir Alkabetz, OBM, of Antwerp, Belgium. He passed away last Thursday, after suffering from an illness in recent years.
Rabbi Alkabetz helped establish the Chabad Yeshivah in Antwerp and was a baal tzedakah, both in public and privately.
He had a special relationship with the Rebbe. On one occasion when he asked the Rebbe a halachic question, he was told to consult with Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu. After that he developed a close relationship with the Chief Rabbi, who once said he “was his partner.”
he is survived by his wife and children Rabbi Gad Alkabetz; Rabbi Yosef Alkabetz and Mrs. Rachel Levi.
