We are deeply saddened to report on the passing of Mrs. Zlata Serebryanski, OBM, a beloved mother and grandmother from Melbourne, Australia.
She was 85.
She married her husband Rabbi Arel Serebryanski in 5722 in the United States. Her husband took up a position as an elementary school Judaic studies teacher at the Chabad school in the Bronx, where the couple lived until the 1960s.
Then they relocated to Melbourne, where her husband became Australia’s representative of the Merkas L’Inyanei Chinuch.
Zlata stood by her husband in all his avodas hakodesh, as he founded a free loan fund for people in need of immediate relief, raised funds for and oversaw the construction of a number of mikvehs across Australia, founded the Cheder Levi Yitzchok School of Melbourne and supervised the printing of a revised bilingual edition of Tanya.
She was known for her kindness, generosity, and open house, where she welcomed people from all backgrounds.
She was predeceased by her husband Rabbi Arel Serebryanski in 5779.
She is survived by her children Zev Serebryanski; Levi Serebryanski – Detroit, MI; Yossi Serebryanski – Denver, CO; Rochel Lipskier – Melbourne; Mendel Serebryanski – Kingston, PA; Hendel Serebryanski -Melbourne; and many grandchildren.
