The Israel Defense Forces have confirmed the tragic deaths of eight soldiers during intense fighting in southern Lebanon today.
Six of the Egoz commandos were killed during a fierce firefight with Hezbollah terrorists in a southern Lebanese village. Another officer and four soldiers were critically injured in the same clash. The two Golani soldiers died in a separate encounter, where another soldier was gravely wounded. In a third incident, a combat medic from Golani’s 51st Battalion also sustained serious injuries.
The Kedoshim were named:
Cpt. Harel Etinger, 23 from Eli, a squad commander in the Egoz Unit.
Cpt. Itai Ariel Giat, 23 from Shoham, is an officer in the Yahalom Unit of the Combat Engineering Corps.
Noam Barzilay, 22, from Kochav Yair, is a soldier in the Egoz Unit.
Or Mantzur, 21, from Beit Aryeh, a soldier in the Egoz Unit.
Nazar Itkin, 21, from Kiryat Ata, is a soldier in the Egoz Unit.
Almken Terefe, 21, from Jerusalem, a soldier in the Golani Reconnaissance Unit.
Ido Broyer, 21, from Nes Tziona, a soldier in the Golani Reconnaissance Unit.
Cpt. Eitan Itzhak Oster, 22 from Modiin, a Squad Commander in the Egoz Unit of the Commando Brigade.
