With great sadness we regret to inform you of the passing of Rabbi Shalom Gurewicz, OB”M, a longtime member of the Chicago Lubavitch community. He passed away Shabbos, Yud Nissan. He was 56-years-old.
He has reportedly passed away after contracting the Coronavirus.
Reb Shalom was an active member of the Lubavitch community of Chicago for many years, who just a few months ago moved for a new Kashrus position to Pomona, NY.
He was dedicated to Hashgacha and Kashrus for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Chaya Sara and his Children, Rikki Honickman – Chicago, IL; Chana Hyams – London, England; Dov Ber – Florida; Layle Kenigsberg – Staten Island, NY; Mendel – Monsey, NY; and Menucha – Monsey, NY; as well as his grandchildren.
He is also survived his parents Rabbi Shmuel and Chava Gurewicz of Melbourne, Australia; and his siblings R’ Shaul Gurewicz – Kfar Chabad; Mrs. Hadassa Neparstek – Melbourne, Australia; R’ Shloimy Gurewicz – Ashdod, ER”Y; and Mrs. Chagit Rimler – Melbourne, Australia.
