With great sadness we regret to inform you of the passing of Rabbi Mendel Drizin, OB”M, a big Ba’al Tzedakah and patriarch of a large Lubavitch family. He passed away on Monday, the 19th of Nissan. He was 83-years-old.
He has reportedly passed away after contracting the Coronavirus.
Reb Mendel is the son of the well-known Chossid Reb Avraham “Mayor” Drizin, OB”M, and the grandson of the well-known Mashpia Reb Zalman Moishe, OB”M.
While living in East Flatbush, the Rebbe instructed Reb Mendel to move to Crown Heights; since then, he has invested a tremendous amount into the Crown heights community.
He has shared that his motivation to grow his business has always been fueled by his strong desire to be able to give Tzedakah. Primarily, he enjoyed giving to Crown Heights Mosdos.
Every Chosson knew in 770, they can turn to Reb Mendel for help before the wedding.
He was a staple figure, with his set daily spot in 770, for many years.
He is survived by his wife Channy, and their children, Motty Drizin – Crown Heights; Chaim Drizin – Crown Heights; Dena Cohen – Toronto, Canada; and Dovid Drizin – Los Angeles, CA; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren KA”H.
