A new campus for Lev Academy, part of the Ohr Avner Chabad network in the United States, was dedicated Thursday in Five Towns, New York. The expansive new facility stretches along an entire street and is expected to serve hundreds of students.
The ceremony brought together prominent philanthropist R’ Lev Leviev and his wife, Olga, members of their family, Ohr Avner leadership, the Rebbe’s Shluchim, educators, philanthropists and public figures.
Among the Ohr Avner representatives in attendance were Rabbi Zalman Zvolunov, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Wolowik and Rabbi Shmuel Kogan, members of the network’s leadership. The Rebbe’s Shliach to Five Towns, Rabbi Zalman Wolowik, also attended, together with Shluchim from the surrounding area: Rabbi Anshel Perl, Rabbi Nachum Tenenbaum, Rabbi Meir Gaisinsky and Rabbi Mendel Gordon.
Rabbi Shmaya Krinsky, son of the Rebbe’s secretary and a member of the board of Machne Israel, addressed the gathering. Other guests included Rabbi Yehuda Blau, director of Ohr Avner in Israel; Rabbi Asher Vaknin, Shliach to Queens; and Rabbi Mendy Zvolunov.
The event also drew Bruce Blakeman, the Republican candidate for governor of New York in the upcoming election. During his visit, Blakeman put on Tefillin.
Representatives of longstanding educational institutions in Crown Heights were also present, including Rabbi Yossi Langzam of Lubavitcher Yeshiva; Rabbi Shalom Goldstein and Rabbi Mendy Gansburg of Beis Rivkah; and Rabbi Beri Spetitzky of Keren Menachem.
Among the philanthropists and supporters of the institutions who attended were R’ Pinny Altahouse, R’ Dudi Farkash and R’ Shalom Feldman.
The dedication marks a significant milestone for Lev Academy, as the new campus prepares to provide a permanent educational home for hundreds of students within the Ohr Avner Chabad network.
