Hundreds of Mehudar Arba Minim Sets Distributed to Widows and Lone Soldiers
Colel Chabad launched a special initiative distributing hundreds of Mehudar sets of the Four Species to lone soldiers from abroad, overseas residents, and widows throughout Israel, bringing the light of Yom Tov to homes across the country • Read More, Photos
The initiative, carried out through the Chesed Menachem Mendel social-educational division of Colel Chabad, involved the purchase and distribution of hundreds of carefully selected, Mehudar sets of the Four Species.
Throughout the year, Colel Chabad provides comprehensive material assistance to tens of thousands of families across Israel, including food baskets for families in need, direct financial assistance, medical projects, and a wide range of essential support.
At the same time, the organization, founded by the Alter Rebbe and expanded by the Rebbeim throughout the generations, makes sure that every project also addresses the Yiddishkeit and spiritual needs of those it assists.
“This initiative,” Colel Chabad director Rabbi Shalom Duchman told ChabadInfo, “was born from a deep desire and a sense of Shlichus to enable every Jew, including those facing complex challenges, to fulfill the Mitzvos of Yom Tov with the greatest possible Hiddur, with peace of mind and genuine Chassidic joy.”
This year’s project focused on two important groups who are regularly supported by the organization: hundreds of widows receiving assistance through the Chesed Menachem Mendel social-educational division, and hundreds of lone soldiers from abroad serving in the IDF.
Colel Chabad’s Lone Soldiers Division is led with exceptional dedication by R’ Mordechai Botnick, who for many years has served as a fatherly figure and a listening ear for English-speaking lone soldiers, together with R’ Shai Weisel. The Orphans and Widows Division is managed by Mrs. Rachel Marton.
Together with a team of volunteers, Colel Chabad made sure to personally reach each soldier at their bases and apartments, bringing them joy and presenting them with a Mehudar set of the Four Species.
The complex logistical operation, which included both purchasing the sets for the soldiers and the sets distributed to the hundreds of widows, was made possible through the generous support and sponsorship of the Renner family. The family opened their hearts and provided generous sponsorship for the entire initiative.
