She was the daughter of Rabbi Yitzchok Dovid Sholom Mincberg, HY”D, the famed Mashgiach Ruchni of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin, and Rebbetzin Shaina Gittel Mincberg. Born in Ostrów Mazowiecka, Poland, she survived the Holocaust together with her mother and six sisters, while her father, brothers, grandparents and many other family members were murdered.

Her family endured years of extraordinary hardship, including periods in Siberia, Uzbekistan and France. Throughout it all, her mother remained deeply committed to raising her daughters in the ways of Hashem.

While in Tashkent, Mrs. Slavin experienced the Ahavas Yisroel of Lubavitcher Chassidim, an experience that left a lasting impression on her. She later married Rabbi Tzvi Hirshel Slavin, a Lubavitcher Chossid, in Paris in 1951. The couple eventually settled in Crown Heights, where they raised their family and maintained a home renowned for its Hachnosas Orchim.

Mrs. Slavin was known for her intelligence, determination and business acumen. At a time when it was uncommon for women in her community to enter the business world, the Rebbe encouraged her to do so.

She maintained a deep connection with the Rebbe throughout her life and often shared stories of the guidance and encouragement she received from him.

In her later years, she devoted time to sharing her memories with younger generations, recounting her family’s experiences during the Holocaust and the rebuilding of Jewish life that followed.

Mrs. Slavin leaves behind a large family of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, continuing the Jewish legacy that she worked so hard to preserve and rebuild.

May her memory be a blessing, and may we merit the immediate fulfillment of the promise, “Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust,” with Mrs. Slavin, OB”M, among those who will rise.
