Archaeologists excavating the ancient site of Shiloh, where the Mishkan stood for much of the period of the Shoftim (Judges), have uncovered a remarkable collection of Second Beis Hamikdash-era artifacts, shedding new light on Jewish life at the historic site nearly 2,000 years ago.
Among the discoveries are a beautifully constructed Mikvah, and a clay cooking pot. Archaeologists say the finds point to a thriving Jewish presence in Shiloh during the Second Temple period, long after the Mishkan had been relocated to Jerusalem.
The excavation also uncovered additional pottery, stone vessels, and other everyday artifacts, providing further evidence of ritual purity practices and daily Jewish life at the site.
Researchers say the findings offer a rare glimpse into the continued importance of Shiloh during the Second Temple era and contribute to a growing body of archaeological evidence highlighting the site’s central place in Jewish history.
