Iran Presents Demands, Trump Firmly Rejects Proposal
Details are emerging regarding the Iranian regime’s response in negotiations with the United States, a proposal that reportedly angered President Donald Trump and led him to sharply criticize Tehran’s position • Full Story
According to reports from Lebanon’s Al-Mayadeen network and other regional media outlets, the Iranian response included a series of sweeping demands that present a significant challenge to the Trump administration.
Among the reported demands: an immediate end to the war, a ceasefire in Lebanon, which Iran reportedly described as a red line, the removal of all American sanctions, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and unrestricted Iranian oil exports.
One of the most dramatic reported demands involved Iranian authority and security control related to the Strait of Hormuz, a move that could carry major implications for the global economy and international shipping routes.
At the same time, sources who spoke with The New York Times indicated that despite the harsh rhetoric, both sides are examining the possibility of a temporary interim agreement. According to the reported outline, the current ceasefire could be extended by an additional 30 days, during which negotiations toward a broader agreement would continue through regional mediators.
However, The Wall Street Journal reported that substantial gaps remain between the sides, particularly regarding Iran’s refusal to commit to a key American demand involving reductions to its stockpile of enriched uranium.
Al-Arabiya further reported that Iran linked the future of its enriched uranium reserves to the success of negotiations, suggesting that the material could potentially be transferred outside the country if a broader agreement is reached.
At the same time, Iran reportedly continues to reject dismantling its nuclear facilities, proposing instead increased oversight by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
President Trump later publicly responded to the proposal, strongly rejecting the Iranian position. “I don’t like the Iranian response,” Trump said. “It is unacceptable.”
