Launching of New Moshiach Shaliach in Melbourne, Australia

30 years ago, 28 Nissan 5752, the Rebbe came out declaring, “Tut altz… – Do whatever you can to bring Moshiach!”, throwing the Chabad world into a spin. What could the Rebbe mean? What could we do?

Ever since then, chassidim have had this shlichus thrust upon them, charged with the task of completing the mission and bringing the world to a state of completion, the state Hashem has intended for 5782 years, the state of Moshiach. This year, 30 years later (a number which the Rebbe mentioned refers to a new stage in the process), shluchim around the world once again looked at this charge given by the Rebbe and asked themselves, “what can we do”?

In Melbourne, Australia, shluchim got together and decided they cannot just talk; rather they needed to action something different, something unique. 50 Shluchim came together for a Melaveh Malka fabrengen at Hamerkaz Centre focused on action. They invited a talented young Chabad chossid, Joel Gerschman, who is a leading coach, bestselling author and educator in the field of business growth, management and leadership, to help them create a roadmap to implement the Rebbe’s call and vision. At the end of the night, many ideas had been voiced and it was clear that in order to put these ideas into action there was a real need for a Shaliach to focus on this Moshiach project.

Supported by the Senior Shluchim, Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Groner and Rabbi Joseph Gutnick (who also provided financial support for the project), a committee was formed. They were tasked with deciding on the top ideas and most importantly finding the right Shaliach to head up these projects. The committee approached Rabbi Schneier Lange, a talented young Shaliach, to take on the responsibility. At first Rabbi Lange was hesitant to take on such an important role, however after some further discussions and insistence he agreed. The committee has every confidence in Rabbi Lange’s abilities and skills and is very excited to announce his appointment.

The appointment was announced by committee head Rabbi Menachem Stern to the Melbourne shluchim at the local Kinus Hashluchim, which was held in Melbourne on Sunday 25 Mar Cheshvan. This is truly a remarkable landmark which has united a whole network of Shluchim who not only have come together inspired by the cause, but have also themselves contributed the seed money to ensure this project could launch for the first 6 months.

Mr Josh Goldhirsch, a local chossid, askan, philanthropist and partner in this project commented: “This is truly a landmark moment. Melbourne is leading the way for all communities around the world to see the success of this project. Every community should have a Moshiach Shaliach and, with the help of G-d, Melbourne will be the one leading the world out of this Galus”.

We look forward to updating you in the near future on the first projects and to partner with every Jew in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and Worldwide, to tip the scales and usher in the era of Moshaich with the Rebbe leading the way.
