Stern Warning To Guests: Don’t Break The Law!

In the late 1960’s, as the great phenomenon of coming to the Rebbe for Tishrei started, due to the increased awareness to its importance, and more availability of flights, the Rebbe’s secretariat was kept busy with guests breaking both Israeli and American law, who upon their arrest said that they are coming to the Rebbe, and the government called the Rebbe’s secretariat.
As a result, the Rebbe’s secretariat released an undated letter (probably, so it can be used every year) before Tishrei, with a stern warning to the guests. The letter was sent to Chabad in Israel, and widely distributed to the Chassidim and Bochurim who were considering the trip to the Rebbe.
The letter reads as follows (Free Translation):
To all those who came to spend time in the court of the Rebbe Shlita,
Greetings and Blessings!
Although it is common sense, and self understood, just to ensure and reinforce it, we are hereby notifying and warning all those who will be coming to spend Tishrei in the court of the Rebbe Shlita, especially those who are coming as official guests, that you must be extremely careful to follow all the laws of the countries from where you depart, and the USA to which you arrive, especially the laws which pertain tourists, so you don’t cause -Heaven Forbid- a desecration of the name of G-d and a desecration of the name of Lubavitch, and your visit is only welcomed if you follow this condition.
