Galia and Eli Tamam, the parents of IDF soldier Moshe Tamam, who was kidnapped and murdered in 1984 by the terrorist Walid Dakah, appealed to the prime minister to prevent the director of the Al-Midan Theater from receiving a program on Arabic radio.
In a letter they sent to Netanyahu under the heading “Giving a public platform to a supporter of my son’s murderer,” the parents wrote, “”We were amazed to hear that in a tender held by the Ministry of Communications to grant a franchise for Arab public radio in the north of the country, a man like Joseph Atrash is competing. Atrash is the director of the Al Midan Theater, which put on a performance on the murderer of our son Moshe Tamam.
They noted, “Our son Moshe was a beautiful boy, loved by all around him, who never harmed anyone. The murderer of our son, the despicable terrorist, Walid Dakah, is one of the most despicable people on earth. In cold blood, he commanded the abduction, abuse and murder of our soldier son when he was bound, which is forbidden even under the international laws of war. ”
“Despite this,” the parents added, “Atrash chose to turn the murderer into a cultural hero that every Arab child will know and admire.”
They make it clear to the prime minister that “a man like this cannot be given a public platform. We have no doubt that Atrash will use the radio station for incitement, just as he turned the Al Midan theater into a platform of hatred, incitement and evil. We are certain that you will protect our dead son and will not give [Atrash] your support.”
