In 1977, the Rebbe sent his first permanent Shluchim, Rabbi Yitzchok Goldstein and his family, to settle in Spain. Now 40 years later, looking back at Chabad’s achievements in Spain, and with an eye into the future, the activities have, thank G-d, expanded exponentially serving locals as well as numerous tourists and students that come to Madrid during the year, by offering Torah lessons, Shabbat and Holiday meals, Jewish education and the annual holiday needs etc.

Rabbi and Mrs. Goldstein collaborate closely with the local Sephardic Rabbi, in improving the growth in Yiddishkeit of the local Jewish community which consists of some 600+ Jewish families. Many say their life has been enriched after their encounter with Chabad in Madrid. There is so much more to do! It is imperative to have an additional Shliach, to assist in the work.

Rabbi Yitzchok Goldstein has asked his son Rabbi Shneur Goldstein, currently living in Jerusalem with his growing family, if he would be willing to abandon his comfortable life in Jerusalem, to come to live in Madrid as an additional permanent Shliach.

Being that Shlichus work is extremely important, as the Rebbe often says that it’s a matter of “פיקוח נפש” to work on Kiruv of every yid wherever they are and thus hasten the imminent coming of Moshiach, after a lot of deliberation (giving up the “Jerusalem” atmosphere with all its luxuries, physical as well as spiritual, education, Kosher amenities etc.), his son, Rabbi Shneur and his wife Shoshi have happily agreed to come and should be moving to Madrid as soon as possible, G-d Willing.

The financial issues that they are faced with, even for the initial period, are without question enormous, (as is commonly the case with most Shluchim who move out anywhere around the world). They need to turn to donors who become actual partners in this important endeavor, and share in each and every Mitzvah accomplished during the duration of the Shlichus. Only with your help can this become a reality.
