A Lebanese man in the United States has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for arranging to send weapons to a Hezbollah member in Lebanon.
According to prosecutors, Fadi Yassine, 43, colluded with others to arrange a shipment of firearms from the Iowa state city of Cedar Rapids to Lebanon to resell them to the Shia militia group, designated as a terrorist organisation in the US.
What makes this short sentence flabbergasting is the judge in the case is none other than the notorious Linda Reade. Reade is infamous for her role in the trial of Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin.
In that trial, one where the plaintiff was not charged with violent, terror related crimes, the US District Judge saw fit to give a 27 year sentence. Rabbi Rubashkin still languishes in prison.
