In the heart of Kyiv and with the participation of the local leaders and ambassadors: Europe’s tallest Menorah in Europe was lit.

Despite the Russian bombings of the Ukrainian capital and ongoing power outages, the lighting of the first candle on the large menorah took place in the ‘Maidan Nezalezhnosti’, the Independence square in the heart of Kyiv.

The event was attended by the Mayor Vitaly Klitschko and many ambassadors as well as Shluchim and Rabbonim, including Rabbi Meir Stambler, the chairman of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine and his deputy Rabbi Raphael Rothman, who organized the event.

The federation boasts that it is a 12-meter high menorah – making it the tallest in Europe. Its placement required a special security permit from the Ukrainian army.

Among other things, with the help of the Federation, the Rebbe’s Shluchim throughout Ukraine held large public Menorah lightings.
