Where & When To Swing Your Chicken

It’s that time of year again, and as usual Crown Heights residents will be spending Thursday afternoon and night performing the Kapparos ritual on the corner of Kingston Avenue & President Street ● The only Kapparos under the supervision of CHK – The Crown Heights Beis Din, with every chicken guaranteed to be given to Tzedaka, to Eshel – Hachnosas Orchim to feed the guests ● Time, Place & Kashrus Certificate

As every year, chickens for Kaporos will be sold on the corner of Kingston Ave. and President St.

All proceeds are dedicated to Eshel – Hachnosas Orchim, which was founded upon the directive of the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach, and merited special notice and encouragement from the Rebbe throughout the years.

This chesed institution provides hospitality to many thousands of Anash and T’mimim who come to 770 for the month of Tishrei. The burden of such expenses is unbearable, and the selling of the Kaporos is one
of the ways to cover at least part of the costs, estimated at hundreds of thousands of dollars.

We, therefore, turn to you, resident of the sh’chuna of Crown Heights, to respond to the Rebbe MH”M’s call to support Hachnasas Orchim, and to buy your chickens for Kaporos from us, thus dedicating these
funds to the chesed institution of Eshel-Hachnasas Orchim.

The chickens are slaughtered and koshered, and arrive at the Hachnosas Orchim kitchen. Thus, the Alter Rebbe’s injunction “it is customary to give the Kapparos to the poor,” is fulfilled with the greatest hiddur, as well as what he says next, “it is better to redeem the Kappara with money and distribute the money to the poor.” Also, one fulfills what is brought in the poskim that one should see to it that the chickens are koshered.

We would like to thank you in advance, and certainly the merit of assisting Hachnosas Orchim, which provides for the Rebbe’s guests, will stand for all of us as a g’mar chasima tova, a good sweet year, and a year of Redemption with the revelation of the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach now!
