With great sadness we inform you of the passing of Rabbi Leibel Simpson, OB”M, of Borough Park, founder of the famed Simpson Jewelers store and known Ba’al Chesed. He was 83 years old.
Reb Leibel was the son of Reb Elye Simpson, OB”M, a close Chosid and Gabbai of the Frierdiker Rebbe and later of the Rebbe MH”M.
He was known as a very kind and charitable person, involved in many causes, especially education. He was one of the founders and main supporters of Bnos Menachem girls’ school in Crown Heights.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Chana Simpson, and their only son, Rabbi Yossi Simpson of Crown Heights, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived as well by his siblings: Rabbi Sholom Mendel Simpson – Crown Heights; Mrs. Krainie Rosenfeld – Borough Park; and Mrs. Esther Goldman – Crown Heights.
