With great sadness, pain and shock we inform you of the untimely passing of Mrs. Chana Segal, OB”M, a dedicated and devoted Shlucha in Rishon L’Tzion and mother of 9 children. She was 40 years old.
Chana (nee Hendel) worked along with her husband Rabbi Eliyahu Segal in spreading Yidishkeit as Shluchim with Chabad of Rishon LeTzion.
After not feeling well before Yom Kippur, a terrible illness was discovered. Together, communities around the world raised funds to help bring her to a hospital in the United States to undergo emergency treatment.
In the last week her condition had deteriorated, and tragically she passed away this morning.
She is survived by her husband Eli and their nine children, the youngest of which is just a year and a half old.
She is also survived by her parents, Rabbi Zalman Eliyahu and Rochel Hendel of Tzfas, and her siblings; Nechama Dina Deitsch – Petach Tikva; Levi Hendel – Crown Heights; Mendy Hendel – Crown Heights; Shmulik Hendel – Kfar Chabad; Yossi Hendel – Beer Sheva; Devorah Leah Zilbershtrom – Tzfas; and Sholom Dovber Hendel – Or Yehuda.
The Levaya will take place today, Tuesday, and will be passing by 770 at around 4:00pm. It will then proceed to Eretz Yisroel and Wednesday the burial will take place in Tzfas.
