In 1915, following the turmoil caused by the first world war, the fifth Lubavitcher Rebbe, known as the Rebbe Rashab, vacated his hometown of Lubavitch. He settled in the city of Rostov-on-the-Don, where he set up Chabad Lubavitch’s headquarters and led the movement until his passing in 1920 • Watch
