Samara’s great synagogue was originally constructed in 1908 (5668), with seating for some 1,000 congregants. The three-story building, adorned with distinctively Jewish architectural elements, was a beacon of strength and growth for Samara’s Jewish community. The newly opened synagogue in Jerusalem’s Yitzchak Navon Train Station received its very own Sefer Torah this week as the scroll was inaugurated together with lively dancing and celebration.
