Today, in Bobruisk marks the day of the city’s liberation from Nazi rule. In a moving ceremony, a memorial monument was opened for the Jewish communities who perished during the Holocaust in Belarus led by the Rebbe’s Shliach Rabbi Shaul Hababo, the mayor and government representatives. An emotional and touching ceremony took place last week in the courtyard of the Yekaterinburg Grand Synagogue and JCC. Stones were laid for the construction of a Holocaust Memorial Monument and tribute to the Red Army for their part in fighting the Nazis and liberating the death camps. In 1942 the Nazis gathered all of Rostov’s Jews at Zmiyovskaya Balka – Snakes valley – which ultimately became the site of the worst massacre by the Nazis in Russia. On November 9, the International Day against Fascism, Racism and Antisemitism, a new Holocaust Memorial was inaugurated in Volgograd. The emotional ceremony was attended by hundreds of community members, esteemed guests, and local citizens.
