Prior to the current Russian-Ukrainian war, thousands of people would flock to Haditch year-round to daven at the tziyun of the Alter Rebbe, but for more than 200 years, great efforts were made to preserve the sanctity of the place and to maintain a “ner tamid” there. • Over the years there were full-time shamashim who lived nearby and brought pidyonos there that were sent from all over Russia by the Chassidim. The Rebbe often refers to the Rambam as “the guide of the perplexed,” guiding the path for all the bewildered people unable to find the proper path in his own generation, and so too, in all other generations that followed.
