    My Experience in Yeshiva

I usually don’t write articles, as I am a quiet person, who values his privacy. However, when I heard that Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch Queens is doing a fundraiser for their building, I felt compelled to write about my experience there.

As a young bochur, I struggled with making friends. I was always in mainstream schools where I seemed to get lost in the crowd. My quiet nature deterred me from reaching out to others, resulting in me spending much time alone. Another challenge I had, was staying focused on learning. It wasn’t that I was incapable of doing so. I just needed more individualized attention, which being in a larger schools, made that very difficult.

When it came time to choose a Yeshiva, I knew that I needed something different. I needed a place where I could connect with my teachers and classmates. A place that was not too big that I felt invisible, a place where I felt like I mattered.

My parents and I looked into numerous Yeshivas and finally found Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch Queens. I am not one to exaggerate, so I am not overstating when I say, “the Yeshiva literally changed my life”. I went from being a kid who was too shy to make friends, to a bochur who was surrounded by the most incredible, kind, loving, and supportive friends. I went from a kid who did not care for learning, to a bochur who has fallen in love with Chassidus. I went from a kid who did not think teachers cared about my wellbeing, to a bochur who had deep life-long relationships with my teachers, a relationship I still maintain today.

Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim Queens Lubavitch took a struggling kid and turned him into a confident, successful and Chassidishe Bochur. They invested hours and hours into guiding me, teaching me, and truly caring about my personal well-being. The entire trajectory of my life changed because of that place. The fact that I am now a person who wants to spend the rest of my life learning Torah and Chassidus and do the Rebbe’s shlichus is solely due to Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim Queens Lubavitch.

I could go on about the impact that the Yeshiva had on me but time is of the essence: The Yeshiva is facing an eviction of their building. If they do not raise the necessary funds by the end of this week, they are in real danger of being shut down. I cannot fathom the idea, that a Yeshiva that literally turned my life around and the lives of so many others, can be closed down. We now have the opportunity to do something about it. For the 2 days, Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim Queens Lubavitch will be raising the 10 million dollars they need to secure and renovate the building. I do not have much to give but I know that I am giving everything I can and more to make sure that bochurim like me will have the same opportunity I did. Please help me in ensuring the future of the best Yeshiva, Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim Queens Lubavitch, by donating here.

Thank you for your investment in bochurim like me,
    -A forever grateful Yeshiva student
