Although Chabad of Venice, directed by Rabbi and Mrs. Ramy Banin, prepared for the unusually high forecast of 150 centimeters of high water, calamity struck as the water levels surpassed the forecast and continued to charge in unexpectedly, reaching nearly 190 centimeters, just shy of the maximum flood waters ever recorded in the city more than 50 years ago.
