For 900 years this Polish shtetl was a home to generations of Jewish families. In 1944 almost every Jew was murdered and with them died a way of life that had survived for centuries. Yaffa Eliach has written a landmark history of the shtetl.
If not for Yaffa Eliach, the tragic events and sad ending of Jewish Eishyshok might well have disappeared into the bowels of history. Another pile of dust in a cruel world.
Thanks to Yaffa Eliach and her tireless life-long work keeping the town’s flame alive, the US Holocaust Museum in Washington displays Eishyshok’s families and life.
Thanks to Yaffa, Eishyshok is the best documented Holocaust era town in all of Europe!
Join us Sunday October 9th and keep the flame alive!
