At a private reception with Donald J. Trump at The Mar-A-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz had a chance to present the 45th president with a box of handmade shmurah matzah.
Trump spoke about his tremendous support for Israel and even turned to Rabbi Minkowicz to allow him to ask a question. Rabbi Minkowicz asked if he could present the President with a box of matzah, and Trump, remarking that the rabbi looks “innocent”, instructed a Secret Service guard to retrieve the package.
At the event he also met famous neurosurgeon and former cabinet member Dr. Ben Carson. He shared with Carson the significance of the shmura matzah, especially the idea that matzah is “food of healing”.
The matzah presented was a gift from the Gurevitch family in loving memory of Rabbi Chaim Gurevitch, who was passionate about giving out shmura matzah before Pesach
May Reb Chaim’s soul be elevated by continuing this beautiful mitzvah in his memory.
