Three Chabad Yeshiva students were detained at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, Jordan by Jordanian police to be questioned, during a flight stopover en route to New York to spend Tishrei by the Rebbe.
The incident occurred after the students began handing out literature about the importance of adhering to the Sheva Mitzvos, an act which alarmed one of the kingdom’s security officers, who mistakenly believed it contains messages that incite against the kingdom or call for a revolution.
The same literature is routinely distributed to Arab populations in Israel and beyond without incident. Many Arabs who have been exposed to the Sheva Mitzvos have resolves to keep to it.
The students were interrogated by multiple Jordanian investigators for hours in the presence of a translator, and under the careful watch of Jordanian police.
After a thorough explanation of the Sheva Mitzvos, and that its practice does not require the abandoning of the Muslim faith, the students were released.

Why would a plane stop over in Jordan? Mechanical failure?
it was a stopover. the article says so clearly
Were they flying Royal Jordanian airlines?
Whew! (Actually it does require abandoning of ‘The Muslim Faith’. Read ‘Laws of Kings’ by ‘Rambam.’ The non-Jews cannot have a ‘Sabbath,’ nor any holidays, because then they are making a new religion. This is quoted in ‘The Divine Code’ by Rabbi Moishe Weiner.)
