On Wednesday, El Al officials and employees gathered in their Manhattan headquarters for a delightful Chanukah celebration full with traditional Sufganiyot, song, and great spirits.
The event was coordinated by R’ Yossi Rapp, Director of Chabad of the Airport, who shared the story and lesson of Chanukah, as well as the peculiarity of this years’ being a Shnas Hakhel – a particularly opportune time to gather and inspire with Jewish themes and messages.
The event was attended by senior El Al executives. General Manager of El Al North America, Danny Saidon, spoke of the great work of Rabbi Yekutiel Rapp, OB”M, at El Al, and how thankful he is for his son, Yossi’s, continued involvement with the Airline in providing the special Chabad touch of Judaism with care and love for every Jew.
Danny then recited the blessings, and kindled the Menorah together with Assistant General Manager of El Al Gal Gershon.
The assembled then viewed a clip of Rabbi Rapp accompanying El Al executives to meet with the Rebbe at a Sunday dollars distribution, where the Rebbe encourages that, like the meaning of their name ‘El Al’, they should strive to always go beyond and improve. The Rebbe then blesses them with success.
Since his father’s passing, Yossi has dedicated himself to continuing the Shlichus of his father, working with El Al, and the Airport more generally.
During Chanukah, Chabad of the Airport has assisted hundreds of passengers to light the Menorah, and share some warm Chanukah joy with Sufganiyot, games and decorations for children, and more.
