On the evening of the seventh candle of Chanukah, a new space was inaugurated for Dnipro, Ukraine’s “Beit Chabad Leisraelim”. The Chabad house, in its fifth year since its founding, provides a home for the Hebrew-speaking community, uniting Israeli businessmen, students, and tourists living in the Ukrainian metropolis.
The red ribbon in front of the entrance to the new Chabad house was cut by: Senior Shliach and Chief Rabbi of Dnipro Shmuel Kaminetsky, President of Beit Chabad Leisraelim, Mr. Rami Weissman, and the Rabbi of Beit Chabad Leisraelim, Yakov Goldstein.
Weissman was honored with the lighting of the large menorah. He also addressed the large crowd gathered for the celebration.
While enjoying a wide variety of refreshments, the community heard from Rabbi Kaminetsky, as well as Rabbi Meir Stambler, President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine, Rabi Moshe Weber, longtime Shliach to Dnipro and Director of Kollel Torah, as well as Rabbi Goldstein, who has worked tirelessly to provide for the city’s Hebrew-speaking community.
“This year, our Chabad house turns five years old,” said Rabbi Goldstein, “we hope that the activities in Chabad will only increase, with more events, shiurim, programs, and Shabbos meals.”
