Those who predicted the demise of Chazonus may be wrong, according to the new website www.Chazonus.com. “There is a strong perception that Chazonus is a lost or dying art,” says founder and Chazan Neach Koncepolski, “though this was true for many years, recently there has been a renaissance throughout the Jewish world.”
There are hundreds of professional and career Chazonim around the world. But the negative perception is so strong that, after visiting the website, some Chazonim themselves were pleasantly surprised by the influx of new cantors and their art.
Thousands have flocked to the website since its establishment some months ago, surprising even the founder himself. “I started it as a hobby and pretty soon people were visiting from across the globe,” he says.
Currently, there are plans underway to develop the website further, to add more features, articles and videos.
