This year Chabad of Riverdale brought light and joy to hundreds in the Bronx with the following wide array of programs, enjoyed and appreciated by old and young alike:
Chanukah Wonderland
Hundreds of children gathered on Sunday afternoon, December 14, for a spectacular Chanukah Wonderland featuring a Kosher Puppet Theater, as well as Grand Olive Press, Cookie Baking and Decorating, Make Your Own Chanukah Candle, and Carnival booths.
Lighting of the Largest Menorah in the Bronx!
The Bronx’s largest Menorah at the Riverdale Monument was lit every afternoon of Chanukah by Rabbi Shemtov. Last Sunday, December 21, hundreds gathered for the main celebrations, taking place at the Riverdale Monument. Councilman Andrew Cohen, Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz, and New York State Senator Jeffrey Klein were present at the celebrations, and Councilman Andrew Cohen accompanied Rabbi Shemtov in the Con Edison truck bucket to light the Menorah. On the final night of Chanukah, State Senator Reuben Diaz was present for the Menorah Lighting.
Toys for Tots Campaign
For the twentieth year, Chabad of Riverdale distributed toys, games, and gifts to hospitalized children over Chanukah.
