The shomrim volunteers of Crown Heights caught a man last night after he broke through the gate surrounding the Rayim Ahuvim shul in the neighborhood.
The report was received at the shomrim hotline after a number of residents reported a suspect walking around the area of the shul on Carroll and Schenectady without a shirt, which aroused their suspicion.
The volunteers who arrived at the scene, noticed the suspect holding a large iron rod in his hand while he was trying to vandalize and damage the property of the shul, they told him to stop, but the suspect responded by threatening the volunteers that he would hurt them with the iron rod.
The volunteers tried to convince him to put down the stick, and waited until the police arrived and arrested the suspect.
