We regret to inform you of the passing of Rabbi Shimon Dahan, who served the Jewish community of Paris, France, as a rov, sofer and shochet for several decaudes, on Tuesday, 20 Cheshvan.
He was 82 years old.
He was one of the first talmidim of Yeshivas Oholei Yosef Yitzchok in Meknès, Morocco in 5710, and later joined the Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim in Brunoy, France in 5715 where he learned from legendary mashpia Reb Nissan Nemanov.
After he married in 5721, he served as a rov and shochet in Paris. He was later appointed head of the shochtim, a position he held for decades.
Under the Rebbe’s instruction, he led Tiferet Bochurim, a dedicated space for young working men to get together daily to learn Torah and farbreng in the evenings.
He is survived by his wife Beruria, and children Rabbi Eliyahu Dahan– Lille, France; Mrs. Chaya Sara Tawil– Rosario, Argentina; Rabbi Mikhael Dahan– Montreal, Canada; Mrs. Naomi Andrusier– Crown Heights; Mrs. Ruthy Benarroch– Crown Heights; Iza Berg– Crown Heights/Florida; Mrs. Chana Rosenblum– Lauderhill FL; David Dahan– Cleveland, OH; Daniel Dahan– Brunoy, France, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
