The annual High Holy Days briefing was held at Police Headquarters, as the NYPD continues to promote open communication between the Jewish community and the Department in advance of the Jewish religious observances beginning with Rosh Hashanah and extending through Yom Kippur.
The event featured remarks from First Deputy Commissioner Tucker, Chief Chaplain Rabbi Dr. Alvin Kass, Intelligence Research Specialist Jordan Reimer, and Commissioner Nisha Agarwal of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs.
Many community members and prominent religious leaders attended the meeting where First Deputy Commissioner Tucker ensured that events such as the UN General Assembly and Papal visit will not detract from protection at Jewish sites during the High Holy Days.
Chief Chaplain Rabbi Dr. Alvin Kass stated “trust is the basis of the partnership that has been built up between the Jewish community and the NYPD” and emphasized that this continued trust is “more important than ever in such dangerous and perilous times.”
