Delta Flight 234, which departed John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on Monday afternoon, landed at Ben Gurion Airport at approximately 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Israeli authorities received an anonymous report claiming that an explosive device was on board, reportedly located in the aircraft’s cargo hold.
Following the report, airport security personnel directed the aircraft to an isolated parking area away from the terminal. Passengers were quickly evacuated and escorted safely to the terminal while security teams conducted a comprehensive search of the plane.
The Israel Airports Authority confirmed that the incident ended without any unusual findings and that normal airport operations had resumed.
Initial assessments indicated that the threat was likely a hoax, although authorities had not publicly identified the source of the report.
The incident comes amid heightened security concerns surrounding flights to Israel following the attempted hijacking involving a Flydubai flight on September 30. Delta resumed its nonstop New York–Tel Aviv service in September after suspending the route for more than six months amid regional security concerns.
