The kashrut division of the Crown Heights Bein Din released an urgent warning regarding the consumption of red peppers that are being sold in Crown Heights stores, as well as being distributed by local organizations.
Many of these peppers are grown in Eretz Yisroel and are thus forbidden to eat due to shemitah.
“We would like to inform the public that reb peppers sold in the tri-state area and in the Crown Heights neighborhood, or given out by some of the organizations giving out food are from shemitta and it’s forbidden to eat them,” the statement said.
