During these hours, thousands of Jews make their way in dozens of buses rescuing Jews from the battlefields and inferno areas to the border Rabbi Yonatan Markovich, Shliach in Kiev, said that he and his family managed to reach the Romanian border in a rescue convoy with hundreds of members of their community, and are now working from there to rescue the rest of the community’s Jews.

Chabad houses in Ukraine have joined the huge rescue operation and Chabad houses in Kyiv have so far loaded thousands of Jews into the rescue convoys, in hundreds of buses making their way to the Romanian border, where they will be received by emissaries and from there rescued to Israel.

By now thousands of Jews have left their homes and are left homeless. In recent days, buildings in Kiev have been bombed, and thousands of Jews in the war zones, including dozens of Holocaust survivors, have been forced to leave their homes and reach the Chabad community building in the city.

In a brave decision, Rabbi Yonatan Markovich, rabbi of the Chabad House, and his wife Rebbetzin Ina, along with their seven children, decided not to leave the Jewish community alone in their difficult time, and together with the local rescue organization, set up an aid system for besieged Jews in the city. Food baskets, medicines, and provided accommodation in the community building until the weekend they realized that it was time to rescue the Jews of Ukraine to a place of safety, since the great rescue operation began.

And if that is not enough, against the background of the voices of war, there are those who are taking advantage of the situation. Gangs of robbers, roaming the streets, take over the abandoned houses left behind by thousands of Jews and loot their property.

Against the background of the chaos in the country and the severe shelling, Rabbi Markovich said that the thing that moved him and his family the most was the knowledge that the people of Israel embraced them, especially the Jews from Israel, who had sent them great assistance since the war began. The people of Israel are measured in these difficult hours, and again they do not disappoint.
