Travel Advisory For Friday, January 7

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for New York City in effect from 12 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday. According to the latest forecast, light snow is expected in the area beginning around midnight with heavier and steadier snowfall likely between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m., which may cause significant disruption to the morning commute. A total accumulation of 3 to 5 inches of snow is forecast, with upwards of 6 inches possible • Full Story

NYC Mayor Eric Adams: New York City never sleeps. Neither does its government. We are working through the night to meet this winter weather head-on. My team and I will be convening at 4 AM to review our storm response in real time and direct resources wherever needed.

NYC Sanitation: DSNY Update: We continue to prepare for the upcoming snow storm. The forecast still calls for up to 6 inches of snow.

We will be focusing on snow removal; we will return to collection as soon as possible. It’s ok to put out trash/recycling according to your normal schedule.

Some of our equipment will be prepositioned in various locations across the City to allow us to be in the field & respond quickly. Salt spreaders will be able to respond to the first flake, and plows will be able to work once two inches of snow has fallen.

When you clear snow from your sidewalk, car, Open Restaurant, or any other property, DO NOT PUT THE SNOW IN THE STREET. We work to clear roadways and bike lanes, and pushing snow back in to these areas can create dangerous conditions.

Alternate Side Parking Regulations will be suspended on Friday, January 7 and Saturday, January 8, 2022 to facilitate snow operations.
