Winter Weather Advisory Issued As Snow Heads To NYC

A winter weather advisory has been issued as New York City prepares to be hit by the latest round of snow. The advisory will go into effect at 5 a.m. Thursday as up to 3 inches of snow is set to start falling. It will remain in place until 1 p.m., the National Weather Service said • Full Story

“The advisory has been issued due to the potential high impact of snow falling during the morning rush hour,” the NWS said.

“Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning commute.”

The snow will be followed by freezing temperatures, with Friday’s high expected to be just 23 degrees.

Alternate side parking was suspended for Thursday and the city’s Emergency Management department warned New Yorkers to expect slippery commutes.

he city has so far escaped a major battering by winter storms this season, with the most accumulation being a little over 3 inches that fell earlier this month. A storm predicted for last weekend turned out to produce more rain than snow.
