In connection with their yearly fundraising campaign, Chabad of Kazakhstan, under the auspices of Senior Shliach and Chief Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen released a special publication touting the various successes of the moisad over the previous year.
This part Friday, not long before Shabbos, Rabbi Cohen’s brother Yossi of Crown Heights received a call from an African American woman, who informed of her interest to contribute. He thought it was a hoax, but told her where she can drop off her donation.
Lo and behold, the woman arrived at Rabbi Cohen’s front door with a check for $100 dollars.
While there she explained how deep rooted her connection is to Lubavitch. She revealed to Rabbi Cohen that for several years she was the assistant housekeeper in the Rebbe’s house, even getting to know Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka personally.
“I saw in the magazine”, she said, “that it says that the Rebbe requests people donate in honor of his father. I decided that if it was connected to the Rebbe and Rebbetzin I wanted to be a part of it.”
