On Tuesday, a Shechita test was held for the students of Machon R”N in Moscow.
First their knives were examined and found to be sharp and smooth, then Rabbi Yitzchak Kogan watched the Bochurim shecht three birds, while those being tested on Hilchos Treifos Shechted three animals, whereupon they were found to be Kosher. The Bochurim were then tested on Hilchos Melicha and Birchos Hanehenin.
This comes after half a year of investing serious study into these Halachos.
Rabbi Kogan then spoke about the devotion of the Chassid Rabbi Rafael Nimotin for Kashrus in the most difficult times during the communist era, noting that the Machon R”N was established in his name and memory.
At Machon R”N in Moscow, dozens of students study Gemara, and each year many receive Semichah and become Shochtim who help then Shluchim all over the world.
