A new grant was announced this week to incentivize Chabad men to marry earlier and spend a full year learning in Kollel.

A letter sent to Chabad Yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel from the “Scholarship Fund for Young Avreichim” revealed the new initiative, which will pay 1,000 Shekel (or about $300) per month for twelve months to yungerleit who marry before the age of 22.

Qualifications consist of graduating from Chabad Yeshiva Gedola and subsequently learning in a recognized Chabad Kollel.

The goal of the initiative was clearly stated in the letter which describes the reason for establishing the fund “to encourage advancement of marriage age.”

It is well known in Chabad circles that prominent rabbonim in Anash communities the world around have made a significant push for bochurim to marry earlier.

In 5772 a group of Chabad rabbonim the likes of Rabbi Yosef Yeshaya Braun, Rabbi Yitzchok Yehuda Yaroslavsky, Rabbi Mordechai Ashkenazi, Rabbi Leibel Schapiro, and more was released extolling the benefits for family life as a result of advancing the age of marriage.

For this reason, Beis Din Rabbonei Chabad threw their support behind the initiative in a letter written last week.
