Camp Chayolei Hamelech broke out color war in the most original and the most exciting way. No! It wasn’t scary!
A new baby boy was born and a Bris Millah was prepared in the Shul. The Mohel came to camp, the women’s section was all set up, and everyone was dressed appropriately with all the campers wearing their white shirts.
After the baby was brought in, the Sandik held the baby, the Brochos was made, the “Bris” took place, and then by the naming of the child…. “Color War” – “Hakel War” was shouted out loud.
From there the entire room was filled with dancing, and no one said “I knew it the whole time.”
The splitting of the teams took place after the judges’ entrance, and then the captains and Lt. came out, following by the Generals entrance.
Throughout the 3 days of ‘Hakel War’ in addition to all the scavengers, plays, davening, MBP, songs and grand sing, the camper and staff all walked away knowing that this upcoming year is ‘Shnas Hakel’ and what that is all about.
