The tragic and untimely passing of R’ Elias (Eli) Friedman, OB”M, in Crown Heights at the young age of 48, from sudden cardiac arrest, a month shy of his first wedding anniversary and 4 days after the birth of his firstborn daughter, has touched the hearts of thousands of people.

Elias led a life of goodness and kindness, always first to help a fellow person, whether in his job as a Critical Care Paramedic for Senior Care, or volunteering with Chevra Hatzala of the Upper West Side, or in the Shuls he frequented. He was a beloved member of Cong. Ohav Sholom in the Upper West Side, and Young Israel of Pelham Parkway in the Bronx.

A $500,000 fund has been set up for the benefit of the young widow Rivka Friedman (daughter of Gershon and Nina Orenstein from Crown Heights), and newborn baby Malya Leah, to give them the chance to have a stable normal life.

Almost $75,000 have been raised from over 1,000 supporters, and the family is very thankful to all those who have already donated. However, this amount is only the beginning, and much more is needed.

Please donate generously, and share the link with all your friends and relatives:

The fund is administered by a board consisting of Rabbi Aaron Mehlman (Cong. Ohav Sholom – Upper West Side), Rabbi Yosef Orenstein (Woodcliff Lake, NJ), Rabbi Sholom Shuchat (Crown Heights) and Mrs. Devora Steigman (Flatbush).
