This past Shabbos a group of campers and staff of the EGP division of Chayolei Hamelech set out from Crown Heights to the Lubavitch Yeshiva of Napierville, Quebec with the goal to reunite, relive and enjoy a Shabbos in the full camp spirit.
The group arrived on Friday morning. After a Shiur in the weekly Dvar Malchus, Shachris and a luscious breakfast, the Bochurim head out to a trip of snow tubing/sledding, followed by Mivtzoim in the center of the city.
The Friday night meal, a legend in camps went on for over 6 hours! Throughout the night the campers and staff Farbrenged, sung camp songs, and discussed their best memories of the past summer. ‘Singing camp alma-mata songs were never sung the way they were over the first ever EGP Shabbaton; it was with a whole new meaning!’, says Zalmy Bryski, the Head Counselor of the past summer’s program. ‘The shabbaton was really a dream come through.’
Shabbos after Shachris was similar to the night before, with a grand Farbrengen until Mincha.
On Motzei Shabbos there was a trip to a nearby ice skating rink, followed by a BBQ, and watching the camp video.
‘To sum up’, Nochum Yusewitz, the Learning Director states, ‘the Shabbaton brought renewed Chayus and Achdus in these cold winter days. We hope that the feelings coming from the Shabbaton will continue all through the year.’
Special thanks to Rabbi Yehuda Dahan and the Hanholah of Yeshivas Ohr Menachem of Napierville for hosting the Shabbaton.
May this be the last step towards the Geulah and the revelation of the Rebbe MHM Shlita, may it be now!
