A mere two years after the elections for the nineteenth Knesset were held on 22 January 2013, early elections for the twentieth Knesset will be held on 17 March 2015.
Globes, an Israeli financial newspaper reported today about the big donors for the various political parties, focusing on the “Bayit HaYehudi” party, a Zionist-Religious party, headed by Naftali Bennett.
The party has been widely criticized by religious Jews from all stripes, including leading rabbis of the Zionist-Religious movement in Israel, for their partnership with the anti-religious “Yesh Atid” party, headed by Yair Lapid, and their participation in legislation which endangered the future of Yeshiva students.
Among the leading candidates in this supposedly “religious” party, is MK Ayelet Shaked, a secular woman.
The Globes article delineates some of the biggest donors to the above-mentioned party:
George Rohr, Chabad’s biggest donor, is also the party’s biggest donor, with a donation of 43,551 Shekels, given to his preferred candidate Naftali Bennett.
Joseph Gutnick, a Chabad Rabbi from Melbourne, Australia, gave the secular Ayelet Shaked the sum of 11,191 Shekels.
Avraham Poraz, who served as MK for the anti-religious “Shinui” party for 18 years, under the leadership of Tommy Lapid, donated the sum of 10,000 Shekels to the same candidate as Gutnick: Ayelet Shaked…
