Following an announcement by Premier Doug Ford of Ontario that camps in the province will not be allowed to open this summer, effectively shutting down Camp Gan Yisroel Toronto, Quebec Premier Francois Legault announced on Thursday that camps in his province will not be allowed to open, shutting down Camp Gan Yisroel Montreal.
Camp Gan Yisroel Montreal was one of the first Lubavitch camps to open with the approval of the Rebbe and was founded by Rabbi Berel Mockin and is currently directed by his son, Rabbi Yisroel Mockin.
The program was supposed to begin on Monday, 7 Tammuz (June 29), and finish Sunday night, 3 Elul (August 23).
Other Lubavitch camps in the United States, have still not announced what their plans are for the upcoming summer and the safety precautions they are planning on taking.
