In honor of the birthday of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka, two brisim were conducted in the central Chabad House in Almaty, Kazakhstan by the city’s Senior Shliach and the country’s only mohel Rabbi Elchonon Cohen.
Two cousins, nine months and 10 years old respectively, who live in Shymkent, a city in Southern Kazakhstan were brought to Almaty to join in the covenant of Avraham Avinu. After speaking with local Shliach Rabbi Mordechai Morosow, the mothers decided to make the overnight train ride to Almaty.
Not only were brisim conducted, but the mothers themselves, together with their daughters, took advantage of the opportunity to receive Jewish names as well.
The newly renamed family returned to their native Shymkent as Menachem Mendel, Shlomo, Chaya Mushka, Sarah, Nechama, and Esther.
